Dispensaries

A dispensary is a facility where patients with debilitating illness or their designated caregivers can purchase or obtain medical marijuana for medical use. Dispensaries in Connecticut undergo background checks to verify their credibility. There are currently six licensed dispensaries in Connecticut.

Accepting or obtaining marijuana from other states is prohibited.

Visiting a Dispensary

No other person except a facility personnel, a registered patient, or the patient’s designated caregiver is allowed to enter the facility. To visit a dispensary in CT, the person’s original card from the Department of Consumer Protection and the CT identification card or license must be presented. All registered patients and caregivers will be accompanied inside the facility at all times. Minors are not allowed inside the medical marijuana dispensary.

Starting a Dispensary

To start a Medical Marijuana Dispensary in CT, one must first be registered under the Department of Consumer Protection with the complete application requirements, documents and required application fees. A dispensary must not be located within 1,000 feet of a private or public school attended by minors, a church, a playground, or a daycare facility. Anyone who is 18 years of age or above and have no prior drug felony convictions can start up a medical Marijuana Dispensary in CT. A dispensary must provide security equipment to prevent unauthorized entrance.
